Paradyne GranDSLAM DSL Access Multiplexers

Broadband Loop Carrier 8820

The 8820 Broadband Loop Carrier (BLC) is a standards-based, scalable, high-capacity BLC that utilizes the latest switching fabric enabling service providers to offer voice, video, and data services from a single platform. The 8820's flexibility lets you meet market demand for multiple services, providing significant revenue generation.

As network models evolve from traditional TDM voice and high-speed Internet access to IP enabled triple play systems, the 8820 enables this capability with unsurpassed flexibility. Support for POTS, ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2+, T1, E1, ReachDSL, SHDSL, TDM SHDSL and TDM SDSL from one platform allows services providers to add services without adding additional equipment or boxes. With the 8820s multiservice capability, service providers can economically deliver high-speed broadband services to all subscribers, no matter what their needs are.

The 8820 BLC is a carrier class access platform supporting full QoS (Quality of Service) in ATM or IP environments. For IP based networks, the 8820 supports 802.1p and DiffServ to ensure prioritization for voice and video, as well as proper handling of best effort traffic. In an ATM network, the 8820 supports four service categories; CBR, VBR-rt, VBR-nrt, and UBR. Having this granularity for ATM or IP network models means service providers can support all applications from POTS, to video, to best effort data applications, while guaranteeing QoS.

24 Ports ReachDSL Line Card - 8355-B2-000

The 8355 ReachDSL Line Card accepts 24 subscriber lines coming in from a Telco connector at the rear of 8820 GranDSLAM system, which provides an ATM aggregation for backhaul connection onto the service provider's network. The 8355 Line Card provides solutions for both asymmetric (residential) and symmetric (business) applications, and it is designed and built for industry standard NEBS compliance. The 8355 Line Card supports the 6385 Bridged Endpoint, as well as third party endpoints that use the new ADSL/R chipset. With a total power consumption of less than one watt per port, the 8355 Line Card provides an efficient high-density, low-power solution that is ideal for use in the central office.

24 Port POTS Module - 8922-B1-000

The 8922 POTS module provides standard telephony lifeline POTS services from Paradyne's Broadband Loop Carrier family, the 8820 and 8620. The 8922 POTS module transforms traditional TDM POTS lines into powerful voice over packet connections for transport in next generation, packet based networks.

The twenty-four port 8922 POTS module supports standard long loops POTS and is operable with traditional voice handsets. The convergence into packets allows service providers to maximize their backhaul onto both ATM and IP-based infrastructures.

24 Ports ASDL2+ Line Card - 8965-B2-000

The 8965 ADSL2+ module supports the latest ADSL technology available in the industry, allowing speeds up to 29 Mbs per loop. The 8965 module supports 24 ports of industry-standard G.Lite, ADSL, ADSL2, and ADSL2+ on a single line card. Following the latest ADSL standards, the Paradyne 8965 module offers longer reach and higher bit rates than standard ADSL.

The 8965 module is supported in both the 8820 and 8620 BLCs (Broadband Loop Carriers). Having 24 ports of ADSL2+ per card combines high density with the capability of supporting the high-bandwidth triple play of voice, video, and data.

The 8965 module allows simultanious triple play applications and POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) on the same copper loop. This lets the service provider use a single copper loop to efficiently and economically deploy multiple revenue-producing services to the end user. The powerful 8965 module has been engineered so that each line card supports multiple traffic types to be processed simultaneously by the next generation switch fabric. Quality of Service and traffic prioritization capabilities ensure that delay-sensitive and premium traffic types are handled first, while those applications with lower QoS are handled as bandwidth is available. Traffic from all line cards in the BLC is aggregated over an ATM or IP uplink so that backbone carrier costs are kept to a minimum while ensuring maximum flexibility.

48 Ports ASDL2+ Line Card - 8968-B1-000

The 8968 ADSL2+ line card supports the latest ADSL technology available in the industry, allowing speeds up to 28 Mbs per loop. The 8968 line card supports 48 ports of industry-standard ADSL, G.lite, and ADSL2+ on a single line card. Following the latest ADSL standards, the Paradyne 8968 line card offers longer reach and higher bit rates than standard ADSL in an ultra-high-density 48 port card.

The 8968 line card is supported in both the 8820 and 8620 BLCs(Broadband Loop Carriers. Having 48 ports of ADSL2+ per card combines extremely high density with the capability of supporting the high-bandwidth triple play of voice, video, and data.

The 8968 module allows simultanious triple play applications and POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) on the same copper loop.

Multi-Service 8 Port T1 Module - 8995-B1-000

The 8995 T1 line card offers carriers and service providers the ability to aggregate T1 lines within a next-generation access platform without the need for additional aggregation equipment or expensive switch ports. By utilizing standard T1 technology, the 8995 T1 line card can terminate long haul (DS1) and short haul (DSX-1) lines allowing service providers to offer multiple services from a single line card. Voice and high speed data without distance limitations mean more revenue from a common platform.

The eight-port 8995 T1 line card occupies a single slot in the 8000 BLC system (8820 or 8620) and can be used for ingress or egress connectivity. The ability to support ATM UNI and IMA, on a port-by-port basis offers service providers complete flexibility with a standards-based technology. Additionally, the 8995 T1 line card supports traditional TDM services via the use of CES (circuit emulation service) when operating in an 8000 ATM system.

The 8995 T1 line card is interoperable with Paradyne T1 IADs and any other standards-based T1 IAD as well as any T1 device on channelized and unchannelized circuits. Routers with T1 ATM or IMA interfaces are supported for high speed access.
