Aztek Networks' 5000S ESA Switch is the first and only purpose-built true emergency stand alone (True ESA™) switching device that is fully redundant, field cabinet ready and truly capable of seamless interoperability with any open standard GR-303 access element or host switch -- NO VENDOR LOCK-IN! The Aztek Networks 5000S continuously monitors the signal between a host switch and an access device, such as a DLC, BLC or MSAP, and becomes the active switching element only if the signaling link between the host switch and the access device becomes inactive.
With 8 subscriber-side T1 interfaces, the 5000S is capable of maintaining a community of multiple DLC, BLC or MSAP systems with thousands of subscribers in a single end office or field cabinet. In the case of a network failure, the 5000S is able to route all calls originating and terminating within the served community, even across multiple subtended DLC, BLC or MSAP access systems. All emergency 911 calls are routed to pre-designated local emergency responders. The 5000S True ESA system ensures priority for 911 calling and delivers caller ID and distinctive ring tones to the emergency responders.
The 5000S is the ideal solution for switch collapse and end office collapse including central office replacement, remote switch unit (RSU) replacement or ESA enhancement to existing DLCs. The 5000S, when combined with a DLC, BLC or MSAP, can provide the same level of ESA functionality as a proprietary remote switch unit or satellite switching office at a fraction of the space and power requirements and it links to the host switch via a standard GR-303 signaling interface (software upgradeable to an IP signaling interface for future VoIP networks), eliminating the need for proprietary switch vendor solutions.
The Aztek Networks 5000S provides real solutions for today's network needs and is a flexible system that can easily change as the network evolves. When a service provider's central office switch is upgraded to an IP-based softswitch, the 5000S can be software upgraded to an all-IP ESA solution with the same local calling capability and access to emergency 911 services as the TDM solution.
